A career as a horse trainer and an open rider was always a life goal for Bryan Penquite. As a young man, Bryan showed at horse shows in Ohio and took lessons from NRHA professionals Rusty and Linda Dare. Soon Bryan began working at local farms in Hilliard, Ohio, so he could learn about and work with horses. Bryan continued his interest and education while attending the University of Findlay, where he studied Equine training and business management along with competing on the university’s IHSA Western Equestrian Team.
Bryan has worked for and learned from some of the most prestigious reining trainers and has been fortunate to ride some amazing horses. After graduating from the University of Findlay, Bryan worked for Jerry Coleman and Tommy Milnes at Milnes Quarter Horses (home of Brennas Red Pine Jac) in Pennsylvania. After nearly two years of gaining valuable experience there, Bryan followed Jerry Coleman to Gata Rein Ranch in Middletown, New York, where he worked for Denise and Steve Santagata. Bryan enjoyed four years at Gata Rein Ranch, where he won the Carolina Classic Level 2 and ABI Derby on Blaze In Hollywood for owners Steve and Denise Santagata.
In 2012, Bryan Moved to Salem, New Jersey, to work as an assistant trainer for NRHA Million Dollar Rider and Hall of Famer Rocky Dare. Rocky guided Bryan to Multiple Top Ten finishes at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress and reserve champion and champion at the NRHA Affiliates. Bryan continued improving his skills, and his accomplishments have made him a known contender.
In 2017, Bryan launched his own business, Bryan Penquite Reining Horses. Bryan and his wife, Jenny, are owners of their farm in Enfield, Connecticut. Bryan feels privileged to be a part of the reining horse industry and is excited to share his knowledge while helping others reach their reining goals.
